Our Board & Train is an immersive training program where your dog lives in a home with a professional trainer, allowing training to become part of everyday life not just something that happens during scheduled sessions.
From walks and meals to relaxing in the house, greeting guests, and trips into public, your dog learns how to make better decisions and live confidently alongside people.
We don't believe every dog should be expected to finish training in the same number of weeks.

Training is progressively proofed around people, dogs, new environments, and everyday distractions so the behaviors you see at home carry over into the real world.

This 10-lesson program includes everything taught in The Good House Dog, then builds on that foundation by introducing greater distractions, new environments, public outings, and advanced leash handling.

The first six lessons establish strong obedience, communication, and household manners.
During the final four lessons, we begin layering in distractions and taking the training into new environments. You'll learn how to maintain the same expectations around people, dogs, movement, sounds, and the everyday distractions you'll encounter outside the home.

The Good House Dog is a six-lesson training package designed to build the obedience, manners, and everyday skills your dog needs to become a calm, reliable companion in the home.
Throughout the program, we'll teach you and your dog the foundations of:

But commands are only part of having a great house dog. We'll also work on the everyday behaviors that make the biggest difference at home, including:

Each lesson builds on the last while teaching you how to communicate clearly with your dog, set expectations, and continue the training between sessions.

The Canine Club is our weekly subscription service exclusively for James River Canine Company graduates. Once a week, a professional trainer will pick up your dog for a structured training outing designed to maintain their skills, provide meaningful enrichment, and continue building real-world reliability.
Outings may include:
Parks • Hiking Trails • Dog-Friendly Stores • Downtown Walks • Public Spaces • New Environments
This isn't daycare and it isn't just a dog walk. Every outing has a purpose. Your dog's existing obedience is practiced around real-world distractions while they get the exercise, exposure, and mental stimulation that comes from getting out and experiencing something new.
We'll pick up your dog, handle the adventure and training, and bring them home afterward—giving you the convenience of knowing your dog spent the day doing something productive.
